Welcome to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office guide on obtaining a 911 address for your property. Please carefully review the following guidelines to ensure a streamlined process:

  1. Assignment to Permanent Structures Only: 911 addresses are exclusively assigned to permanent physical structures and are not designated for vacant land.

  2. Single Address per Parcel: Each parcel of land is assigned one 911 address. In cases where multiple buildings exist on a single parcel, they will share the same 911 address. However, you may differentiate buildings by adding a unique identifier, such as a number or letter, to the end of the address. For example:

    • Lot Number or Letter: Example - 123 Main St Lot 1 or Lot A
    • Apartment Number or Letter: Example - 123 Main St Apt 1 or Apt A

  3. Subdivision and New Addresses: Subdividing a property qualifies for a new 911 address for the new building.

  4. New Business, Apartment Complex, or Solar Farm: For new commercial ventures or developments like apartment complexes or solar farms, please email the following information to expedite the process:

    • Blueprints of the project
    • Main access points
    • Emergency contact information
    • Name of the location

  5. Preparation Before Contacting Us: Please ensure that the area where the permanent structure will be located is clearly marked before contacting us via phone or email.
